Tasha: Remembering God's Voice When Doubts Get Louder

“Bravery is taking a step in faith today when you can’t see tomorrow.”

In 2016, missionaries Jamie and Tasha Kemp felt God calling them to assist an orphanage in Nias, Indonesia, that was struggling to feed and educate kids after the city was devastated by an earthquake. When they learned that the administrator was borrowing rice to feed the children, the Kemps pledged to support the orphanage until all of the remaining children could graduate from high school. They didn’t know where the extra money would come from, but they stepped out in faith. Here is Tasha’s testimony:

Taking on the responsibility of feeding, clothing, and educating an entire orphanage until the kids graduate has required a lot of courage. When I look at the task and the troubles that have occurred, I sometimes question whether we can do this. But then I remember God speaking to me the day we heard of the need, and it gives me courage. Whenever I get discouraged from the task, or doubts or naysayers threaten to drown out God’s still, small voice, I remember God speaking to me.

I also remember the courage of the kids. Many have come from tragedy, extreme poverty, or rejection. Yet when I meet them, I see that God helps them through their pain. They look to Jesus for everything, and He gives them courage. When I see them pray or worship, I see the work that God has done in their lives. When I see the sacrifices they have made and how God is using them now, I get courage.
