Early Intervention Unlocks Children’s Potential

When given the chance, Thailand’s Chiang Rai Children’s Home has eagerly opened their doors to care for babies born in prison. From dark and desperate prisons of hopelessness, babies have been freed to put down roots, grow, and blossom. Children like…

…David, a child with obvious physical and developmental delays who no one had even bothered to name. With love and care, David was able to overcome his early deficits and transform into a confident, bright, and gifted young man. Now in eighth grade, David is a drummer. “I thank God for the opportunity He gives me to be part of the worship team. I am able to use all my talents for His kingdom.” David also teaches a drum class—something he never dreamed he would be able to do! Read more about David: Update Vol 25 / No 4

…Chompu, the emaciated, malnourished little girl with patchy hair who couldn’t bear to be touched and never smiled. After a time of healing, good nutrition, and loving care at Chiang Rai Children’s Home, the sad and sickly child became a happy, healthy, vibrant child who smiles all the time. This year, 13-year-old Chompu has something new to smile about—she was granted Thai citizenship, key to a successful future in Thailand. Read more about Chompu: Update Vol 20 / No 1

…Miriam, the daughter of a Pakistani mother who transported drugs for Miriam’s Mozambican father, who faced formidable social and racial stigmas when she moved from her mother’s prison cell to Chiang Rai Children’s Home as a toddler. The ministry has given her a safe and loving launching pad for a successful future. Now 15, Miriam dreams of being a writer and has already earned praise for her novels, which she posts on a writer’s forum online. “I never knew that so many people would follow and give me positive comments,” she wrote. “That is really encouraging me that I am on the right way.” Miriam is concerned that she won’t be able to continue her studies to pursue her dream if she is not granted Thai citizenship. “Please pray,” Miriam asks, “that God will make a way for me to be a writer for and about Jesus.” Read more about Miriam: Update Vol 20 / No 1
