Bold Prayers and Audacious Answers
“You faithfully answer our prayers with awesome deeds, O God our savior.”— Psalm 65:5 (NLT)
Vanuatu: Above and Beyond, the Spirit Moves
Sunday School in My Language (SSML) has the ambitious goal of giving every child the Pacific nations a chance to learn about God through Sunday school in their own language. This can only be accomplished through prayer and contributing toward curriculum rights, translation, printing, and teacher training.
Teacher training workshops are an important part of reaching the children. Missionary Alecia Webb prays that attendees will experience a dynamic move of the Holy Spirit in which wounds are healed and teachers are called and empowered. She and the entire leadership committee have fasted and prayed for this, and God has been answering those prayers!
In the first training session, one person was saved, and four were baptized in the Holy Spirit. In the second session, three more were baptized in the Spirit, and countless others testified of God’s healing of past hurts. The most recent workshop saw six saved and baptized in the Spirit.
“God is so faithful,” Webb rejoiced. “He told us, ‘You have not because you ask not’ [James 4:2]. Don’t be afraid to take to God the crazy things you dream of—big and small,” she advises.
Opening Doors in a Closed Country: Bolder than Ever
Some countries remain closed to the gospel—but that doesn’t mean that God isn’t working and moving. In one such place, 20 students prayed to receive Jesus last year, and workers and staff are praying that there will be at least 20 more in 2021. The local partner is bolder than ever, and everyone associated with this school ministry is excited to see what God will do in 2021. In spite of the difficulties and limited opportunities for ministry, the staff is intentionally giving students more opportunities to believe through small discipleship groups and special activities.
Please pray very specifically for the staff and students—for God’s blessing, boldness, and the continued moving of the Holy Spirit in hearts and lives. Ask God for favor with the authorities and for God to make hearts fertile soil for the seeds of the gospel.
Myanmar: Above All, Hope
Thank you for your persistent prayers for Myanmar, which continues to be in the news because of its military junta. So many of the country’s heartbroken people are fearful and discouraged. Perhaps worst of all, many have lost hope for a better future for their nation. You can see hopelessness on people’s faces and hear it in their voices.
But God still loves the people of Myanmar and, in faith, He has great plans for this nation. “Yes, we need to pray for stability, safety, and peace,” wrote one worker in Myanmar. “But please also pray that the hurting hearts of the people will find true hope in Jesus as the church proclaims the truth without fear.”
