Poisoned! Mom’s new knowledge saves neighbors
Northern Philippines | A young mother recognized the signs of poisoning in a handful of neighborhood children and knew exactly what to do. Her quick action saved the children’s lives. The woman was excited to report the source of her timely new knowledge—Childcare Community Ministries Philippines (CCMP).
CCMP had recently opened a nutrition program in the area, a dangerous community riddled with crime, drugs, poverty, poor nutrition, and a high infant mortality rate. CCMP enrolls the most nutritionally needy children in a neighborhood in a temporary program (6 months to a year) that provides daily nutritious hot meals and vitamins, along with a Bible story. Each child must be accompanied by a parent, who attends classes on nutrition and health—including poison awareness. So when the woman’s child and others showed signs of poisoning, she knew just what to do to save their lives.
Asia’s Little Ones is accustomed to hearing about children whose health has been restored with help from compassionate donors who make good nutrition possible for malnourished children. It’s especially exciting to hear dramatic reports of lives being saved through education that is offered along with the nutritional assistance. How many children are alive today because of the help you have given? Only God knows.
